What's the worst movie to win a Best Picture since 1990?

I think that this is a no-brainer, but I wanna see what you guys think. Feel free to defend your vote below.

It was a tough choice between Forrest Gump and Titanic, but I had to vote for Forrest Gump. At least Titanic had some good special effects, Gump was just annoying. If I ever hear anyone say "Life is like a box of chocolates...," I will punch them in the head. That has to be the worst movie line ever.

Anyone who thinks that Titanic is better than Crash needs to get their head checked. You are out of your freaking minds.

Oh, Johnny, "Crash" is offensively bad. Sure, it's got that "important picture" veneer, but man is it stupid. Heavy handed and really, really stupid. Racism is bad? I had no idea!

O.K. first remove anything that's WATCHABLE. Titanic: cheesy, slow for the first 4-5 hours but entertaining enough when the ship goes down. Gladiator: not great--but watchable for at least the violence. Forrest Gump: sneaky fascist propaganda but even I might watch 20 minutes on cable. Dances with Wolves and American Beauty are thumbs up at the least.

So you are left with Crash, A Beautiful Mind and the English Patient: three movies I could not even sit through. Crash and The English Patient I fell asleep on the DVD, but Crash is worse--The EP is just boring.

I actually walked out of the theater on A Beautiful Mind. Just left and went home. I cannot argue that it was one of the worst movies I ever saw because I do not know about how terrible the 45 minutes might be.

Apparently I am the only one who thinks this way according to my vote. I will accept Crash as a viable answer, but I think the Howard/Crowe movie is easily the worst.

It is a no-brainer. "Dances With Wolves"! A Politically Correct (IE White Men Suck) s***kicker. Except for Kevin Costner of course.

But I called Vegas and the two favorites are "Titanic" because of all of Johnny's suck-ups, I mean friends; and "Crash" because it's refreshingly Non PC and everyone knows "elites" are PC.

I would have walked out on "Dances With Wolves" but I was with a chick. Needless to say, that relationship is over.

No way. Lots of those movies were bad, were annoying, were stupid, but nothing was as awful, mindless and pointless as Gladiator. Agh.

So...You were not entertained!

Also, I didn't find Crash that annoying. The annoying part is not that it's PC, but that the film hammers you over the head with the idea that people sure are sympathetic and complicated and magic scarves and bad cops with a heart of gold. But there were some solid acting performances in it (Dillon, Ludacris). Certainly not Best Picture -- I think my favorite movie that year was Batman -- but not a terrible film.

Crash was not PC at all. When was the last time a person was painted as a racist in a movie, but not necessarily a bad person? I don't think that any movie that contains a character as nuanced as Dillon's can be labelled "stupid". I actually thought that it was a fairly intelligent look at the subtleties of racial prejudice. You want stupid? How about taking one of the most powerful events of the 20th century (the sinking of the Titanic) and instead of telling any one of the hundreds of true stories of heroism and sacrifice, making up a pathetically cliched and dull love story to drive the narrative of this garbage. The only thing that I liked about Titanic was that Leo DiCaprio's character dies in the end.

Really? One of the most powerful events of the 20th century? I suppose it did lead to the founding of the International Ice Patrol. We really dodged a bullet there...

Nope, the most "powerful" thing about the Titanic sinking is the three hour stink-fest of a movie that it inspired. A stink-fest that is, from a film standpoint, a far greater achievement than "Crash."

The sinking of the Titanic had a profound impact on the caste system in european society, a profound impact on international travel, a profound impact on comunication, a profoud impact on safety measures, and a profound impact on maritime smack talking (when was the last time you heard someone call something "unsinkable"?). I highly encourage you to read "A Night to Remember" by Walter Lord. One of the most gripping books I've ever read.

...and how many events were made into so many movies. In addition to "A Night to Remember", an Oscar winner were the original "Titanic" with Barbara Stanwyck, "The Unsinkable Molly Brown" with Debbie Reynolds, "SOS Titanic" with David Jannsen, "Raise the Titanic" with Jason Robards, and the aforementioned Leo led "Titanic."

Not to mention that the premier of "Time Tunnel" had the boys on the Titanic, the "Time Bandits" found themselves there as well, and the Titanic sailed into New York harbor in "Ghostbusters II", leading Harbormaster Cheech Marin to declare, "Better late than never!"

The Gunfight at the O.K. Corrall was in a lot of movies.
I couldn't put "A Night To Remember" down. The movie was pretty good too.
As for "Titanic"...The first half was stupid, but it was made to appeal to 12 year olds, and I guess 12 year old boys teach 12 year old girls how to spit. But seeing adults do it is embarassing. From a technical standpoint the second half was impressive. But...again, The Best Picture of the Year very rarely gets the Oscar and a lot of times it isn't even nominated.
That's why all these other Awards shows got started. They got tired of all the crap that wins Oscars.
