When they first came out, it was a great thing. The good people at
Myquizzo.com were gonna give everyone in Philly a source to go to to know when and where to find a quizzo that night. Even better, they were gonna do reviews of the various quizzos and bios of the various quizmasters. It was a great set up. And then, nothing. Under news, they have made one entry in the past year and a half. The site is covered with ads for porn and various annoying pop-ups. The Dive, which hasn't hosted quizzo in over a year, is still listed, while the Rendezvous and the Black Sheep are not. Come on, guys. Either do it right or shut it down. You're the first thing that comes up on google when you type in quizzo, and your half-ass site is giving the game a bad name.
It says I host at Helium Comedy Club. I no longer do that. And they never switched my venue to Downey's. Good thing, I guess. Because, I don't host there anymore either.
JGT---are you aware of any good Quizzo/Trivia contest site that does exist, especially on a regional or national level? That would be great, but when I look for something like that when on the road, I can't find anything.
I think I even emailed those guys directly a few times last year.
The city weeklies' listings are also outdated, but given the number of quizzes that start up and shut down or move, it's probably a difficult thing to keep current. Somebody like JGT is in a very good position to keep track of these sorts of things, but at what point does providing information come into conflict with running a business?
I suppose the best way to keep information current is to allow people hosting quizzes to manage their own information, perhaps on a centralized, wiki-type space. It would work great for a geographically-bounded area like Philadelphia. Cheap, too ... the challenge would be getting the word out...
